Border Police: 29.8 million people pass through Romanian border points in summer season

During the summer season (June 1 – August 31, 2023), approximately 29.8 million people passed the control formalities through the border points, the General Inspectorate of the Border Police announced on Saturday, write Agerpres.

Also, more than 7.5 million vehicles crossed the border. „Furthermore, the most transited border was the one with Hungary where, in the same period of time, approximately 10 million people completed the formalities in both directions of travel. High traffic values were also recorded at the border with Bulgaria, which was transited by 7 million people, but also at the airport points, where 6.8 million people completed the border formalities”, informs a press release sent to AGERPRES.

At the national level, the border police detected 690 foreign citizens fraudulently crossing the border for the purpose of illegal migration in the area of competence, upon entering the country. At the same time, on the way out of Romania, 3,170 foreign citizens were detected who tried to illegally cross the border into the neighboring states, most of them being detected at the border with Hungary.
