Bucharest to host B9 defence ministers’ meeting on Wednesday

The meeting of defence ministers from the countries participating in the Bucharest 9 Initiative (B9) will take place on Wednesday at the Palace of Parliament, according to the National Defence Ministry (MApN).

According to the quoted source, the agenda of the meeting will cover the regional security situation in the context of the Russian Federation’s war of aggression against Ukraine, the implications of this conflict on Euro-Atlantic security, NATO and EU support for the Black Sea region, as well as measures to strengthen NATO’s deterrence and defence posture on the Eastern Flank, in preparation for the upcoming meeting of defence ministers in allied format.

At the end of the meeting, the defence ministers of Romania and Poland will make press statements.

Launched at the initiative of Romania and Poland, B9 provides a platform for deepening dialogue and cooperation between the participating Allies. The new countries included in this dialog are Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Lithuania, Latvia, Poland, Romania, Slovakia.
