Bucura-Oprescu:Goal is to increase bilateral relationship between Romania and Turkey, increasing competitiveness of automotive industry, priority

Published on

Our objective is to increase the bilateral relationship between Romania and Turkey, and increasing the competitiveness of the automotive industry is a priority, especially in the context of the need for skills suitable for the green and digital transition, said the Minister of Labor and Social Solidarity (MMSS), Simona Bucura-Oprescu, during a visit official in Arges county, at two factories with majority Turkish capital.

According to a post on the Facebook page of the Ministry of Labour, Simona Bucura Oprescu and the Minister of Labor and Social Security from the Republic of Turkey, Vedat Isikhan, accompanied by the Turkish ambassador to Bucharest, Ozgur Kivanc Altan, paid an official visit to Arges county on Friday. The high dignitaries went to two factories with majority Turkish capital, the automotive production units Martur Automotive Seating and Interiors from Oarja and Beycelik Gestamp from Darmanesti.

„I want to thank you for your hospitality! I really appreciate the fact that Minister Simona Bucura-Oprescu acted very quickly and we have already signed the protocol through which Romania and Turkey strengthen their cooperation in the field of work and social security. We have common concerns and challenges, both from the point of view of demographic issues, as well as those regarding the green and digital transition for which we must be as prepared as possible. I am convinced that we will have a strong and lasting partnership. I am glad that I was able to visit factories in Romania that have Turkish capital and which contribute to the development of commercial relations between the two countries,” said Minister Vedat Isikhan, quoted in the post.

The two factories total investments of 115 million euros and have generated thousands of jobs. These investments were possible thanks to the support given, on the one hand, by MMSS, and, on the other, by the local and county authorities of Arges.

„Our goal is to increase the bilateral relationship between Romania and Turkey, and increasing the competitiveness of the automotive industry is a priority, especially in the context of the need for skills suitable for the green and digital transition. We want to have a better protection of social security rights in the situation of the right of free movement for the citizens of both states, in the conditions of legal migration in search of financial, professional opportunities or even for family integration. We will also develop the cooperation between the Labor Inspectorate of Romania and the Labor Inspectorate of Turkey. Thank you to the Minister of Labor and Social Security in Turkey and his team for the constant cooperation and for the commitment to continue the development of joint actions for the benefit of the citizens and the economies of Romania and Turkey,” declared Minister Simona Bucura-Oprescu.

The company Martur Automotive Seating and Interiors, part of the Turkish group Ustunberk, supports, through its factory in Oarja, the production of car seats for the Logan and Sandero models from Dacia. Martur Automotive Seating and Interiors SRL is one of the main suppliers of car seats worldwide.

Beycelik Gestamp, a Turkish-Spanish multinational company, has expanded its presence in Arges through a new factory in Darmanesti commune. The unit, with an area of 22,000 square meters, will produce car components for the Dacia and Ford Otosan brands.

The Minister of Labour, Simona Bucura-Oprescu, and her Turkish counterpart, Vedat Isikhan, signed on Thursday, at the Government headquarters, the protocol in the field of labor and social security as a result of the commitments made on the sidelines of the high-level Romania-Turkey Strategic Cooperation Council, which was held in Ankara on May 21.

Joint efforts will focus on improving the lives of workers, ensuring their rights and social protection and promoting a stronger labor market adapted to the challenges of the moment in both countries.
