On Monday, Romania had a competitive price on the energy exchange, of 56 euros, because it had high production, of almost 8,000 MW at certain times of the day, with an input of 2,000 – 2,500 MW of wind energy, announced the Minister of Energy, Sebastian Burduja, on his Facebook page.
„I inform you that today Romania had a competitive price on the energy exchange: 56 euros, compared to 105 in Poland, 88 in Spain, 92 in Portugal, 65 in Switzerland, 103 in the Baltic States, 75 in Finland. Why? For that we had a large production. Almost 8,000 MW at certain times of the day, with an intake of 2,000 – 2,500 MW of wind energy (it’s also good when the wind blows, from this point of view). We exported the surplus to other markets,” the minister pointed out.
He reiterated that investments in new production capacities must be accelerated.
„That’s why I said that it is vital to accelerate investments in new production capacities. There are billions of euros that we managed to attract for new wind and solar power plants (1.3 billion euros for production and self-consumption by private beneficiaries, 3 billion euros in contracts for the difference, 0.5 billion euros for self-consumption by public beneficiaries, etc.), gas groups (3,500 MW in total), the Romanian nuclear program (over 2,000 new MW in the system until 2032), plus storage capacities (230 million euros from Romania’s National Recovery and Resilience Plan and the Modernization Fund),” added Burduja.
In another matter, the head of Energy announced that there are less than 1,600 users currently without electricity, out of the nearly 28,000 registered on Monday morning.
„The exceptional mobilization of the intervention teams continued throughout the day. Here are the latest data regarding consumers without power: Delgaz Grid Iasi – 399; PPC – Constanta – 469, Ialomita – 1, Calarasi – 1; Electrica DEER – Buzau – 550, Vrancea – 136. In total, there are less than 1,600 users at the moment. I started the day with almost 28,000. This happens when we have a lot of professionalism, dedication and teamwork. I am proud and grateful to all those who have worked all day, in difficult conditions, under torrential rains and gusts of wind, many times at height. I asked them to stay on duty until we turn on the lights in the houses of all Romanians,” Burduja said.
Almost 28,000 consumers were not supplied with electricity on Monday morning, following the incidents that occurred during the night on the medium and low voltage networks, the Minister of Energy informed on Monday morning.
