The deep community of language, culture and history, an expression of the close ties between Romanians on both sides of the Prut River, remains as strong as ever, despite the vicissitudes of history, Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu said Thursday in a message on the Day of the Union of Bessarabia with Romania.
„We are celebrating 107 years since the return of Bessarabia to the motherland on March 27, 1918, the crowning of the courage and desire for unity of the Bessarabian Romanians and the first step towards the fulfillment of the centuries-old dream of uniting all Romanians. The deep community of language, culture and history, an expression of the strong ties between Romanians on both sides of the Prut River, remains as strong as ever despite the vicissitudes of history. Thinking of a future of consolidated democracy and development, the path towards integration into the European Union that our brothers from across the Prut are currently taking is a step towards a new common destiny for us in the European family,” said Marcel Ciolacu.
The prime minister assured that the Romanian Government remains a reliable partner of the Republic of Moldova.
„We have confidence in the Republic of Moldova’s ability to successfully move past all the necessary stages to reach this goal and we remain willing to be at your side with our examples of best practices in terms of European integration. The Romanian Government remains a reliable partner of the Republic of Moldova, by pursuing projects designed to strengthen our cultural, social and economic ties, including in terms of energy and transportation interconnection with Romania and the European Union. Many Happy returns to all Romanians across the Prut,” Ciolacu added.
