The European Commissioner for Budget, Anti-Fraud and Public Administration, Piotr Serafin, will meet on Thursday in Bucharest with interim President Ilie Bolojan and Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu.
He will be received at 10:00 by interim president Ilie Bolojan and at 11:30 he will go to the Victoria Palace for a discussion with the head of the executive, according to the official agenda.
The European Commission representative is on a two-day visit to Romania.
According to the Representation of the European Commission in Bucharest, the visit will focus on improving social inclusion, creating jobs and strengthening local communities with the help of EU funds.
The visit will include discussions with authorities and stakeholders to better support Romania’s economic growth and align the country’s priorities with plans for the future EU budget.
The visit is part of the European Commission’s pan-European consultations ahead of the presentation of the EU’s next long-term budget, planned for July this year.
European Commissioner Piotr Serafin will also meet Internal Affairs Minister Catalin Predoiu to discuss security, border protection and migration management, with a focus on Romania’s key role in protecting the EU’s external borders.
Piotr Serafin will also talk to Romanian business people and investor groups to get their views on how current EU funding is working.
On Friday, he will travel to Oradea, where he will visit major infrastructure projects such as Oradea County Hospital and Oradea Airport.
