Constitutional Court of Romania must be as balanced as possible, nomination of judge to be apolitical, says President Dan

Published on

President Nicusor Dan said on Friday that he will appoint an apolitical judge to the Constitutional Court of Romania (CCR).

„I believe that the Constitutional Court should be as balanced as possible and my nomination [for a judge, editor’s note] will be apolitical, you will see,” said Nicusor Dan, in a statement to the press in front of the house where he lives.

He stated that he does not have a name for the CCR at the moment, but he will have more discussions on this issue.

The terms of several CCR judges expire in June. The presidential administration has yet to appoint one of them.
