Constitutional Court receives request to establish vacancy of Romania’s President position

The Constitutional Court of Romania (CCR) received on Monday evening the request to establish the vacancy of the Romania’s President position, following the resignation of Klaus Iohannis from the Cotroceni Palace.

”The Constitutional Court received the request to establish the vacancy of the office and the existence of circumstances that justify the interim in exercising the President of Romania position”, CCR officials stated.

Klaus Iohannis announced his resignation from the President of Romania position on Monday. He mentioned that he would leave the Cotroceni Palace on February 12.

Iohannis specified that the decision comes in the context in which the procedure for his suspension from office was set in motion in Parliament.
