Construction volume up by almost 17 pct in the first two months of 2025

Construction volume increased in the first two months of this year, as unadjusted series, by 16.7%, and as working day and seasonally adjusted series by 19.5%, compared to the similar period in 2024, according to data from the National Institute of Statistics (INS), sent to AGERPRES on Wednesday.

In February 2025, construction volume increased, compared to January 2025, as unadjusted series, by 24.0%, while as working day and seasonally adjusted series, it decreased by 6.2%.

Compared to the same month in 2024, in February 2025, the construction volume increased by 6.1% in February 2025, on an unadjusted basis, and by 6.7% on a working day and seasonally adjusted basis.

According to INS, the construction volume, as unadjusted series, increased by 16.7% overall, in the period January 1 – February 28, 2025, compared to the same period in 2024, against the background of the growth recorded in capital repair works (+50.4%), new construction works (+15.5%) and in maintenance and current repair works (+2.8%).

By construction objects, increases were recorded for residential buildings (+26.4%), engineering constructions (+23.9%) and non-residential buildings (+0.7%).

On a working day and seasonally adjusted basis, the construction volume increased by 19.5% as a result of increases in capital repair works and construction works by 47.3% and 21.8% respectively. Maintenance and current repairs decreased by 3.5%.

By construction objects, increases were recorded for engineering constructions (+27.4%), residential buildings (+18.6%) and non-residential buildings (+0.2%).

In February 2025 compared to January 2025, the construction volume increased, on an unadjusted basis, by 24.0%, with increases in current maintenance and repair works (+45.9%), new construction works (+23.1%) and capital repair works (+4.4%).

By construction objects, there were increases in non-residential buildings (+54.8%), engineering construction works (+17.3%) and residential buildings (+5.3%).

The construction volume decreased, as a working days and seasonally adjusted series, by 6.2%, with decreases in capital repair works (-16.0%) and new construction works (-6.6%). Maintenance and current repair works increased by 3.1%.

By construction objects, the construction volume decreased for residential buildings (-15.1%) and engineering constructions (-9.7%). Non-residential buildings increased by 11.9%.

In February 2025, compared to February 2024, the construction volume, as unadjusted series, increased by 6.1% overall. By structural elements, increases were recorded for capital repair works (+32.4%), current maintenance and repair works (+3.9%) and new construction works (+2.6%).

By construction objects, increases were recorded for engineering construction works (+10.7%) and non-residential buildings (+3.4%). Residential buildings decreased by 0.7%.

On a working day and seasonally adjusted basis, the construction volume increased by 6.7% overall. By structural elements, the increase is highlighted in capital repair works (+25.4%) and in new construction works (+6.1%). Maintenance and current repair works decreased by 8.0%.

By construction objects, construction volume increased in engineering constructions (+13.3%) and non-residential buildings (+0.3%), while for residential buildings it decreased by 13.9%.
