Margareta, Custodian of the Romanian Crown, and Prince Consort Radu had a private audience with Pope Francis at the Vatican on Thursday, according to Agerpres.
The delegation included Romania’s ad interim charge d’affairs at the Vatican Adina Lovin, President of the Royal Council Andrew Popper and Chancellor of the Royal House Traian Sarca.
After being welcomed by the Regent of the Prefecture of the Pontifical House, Monsignor Leonardo Sapienza, the delegation went to the Pope’s private library, from where Margareta and Radu were led to the chamber where the meeting with the Pope took place.
After talks and a photo op, the other members of the retinue were introduced to the chamber, whom Margareta introduced to the Pope, followed by an exchange of gifts.
At the end of the audience, the Swiss Guard and a guide accompanied the royal retinue on a tour of the Apostolic Palace and the Sistine Chapel. That was followed by a guided tour of the most important rooms in the Vatican Museums, the Vatican Gardens and St. Peter’s Basilica.
