Cultivation, possession, sale and purchase of dangerous drugs are punishable by imprisonment from 3 to 10 years

President Klaus Iohannis promulgated on Wednesday a law according to which the cultivation, offering, sale, distribution, procurement, purchase, possession of dangerous drugs are punishable by imprisonment from 3 to 10 years and the prohibition of certain rights, according to Agerpres.

If the deeds concern high-risk drugs, the punishment is imprisonment from 5 to 15 years and the prohibition of certain rights, the law adds.

The introduction or removal from the country, as well as the import or export of dangerous drugs, without a right, are punishable by imprisonment from 5 to 15 years and the prohibition of certain rights. If they concern high-risk drugs, the punishment is imprisonment from 10 to 20 years and the prohibition of certain rights.

Also, if the deeds resulted in the death of the victim, the penalty is imprisonment from 15 to 25 years and the prohibition of certain rights.

„The deed of the person who, with intention, carries out illegal operations with products likely to have psychoactive effects, claiming or dissimulating that these are products authorized according to the law, or whose sale is permitted by law, constitutes a crime and is punishable by imprisonment from 2 to 7 years and the prohibition of certain rights, if the deed does not constitute a more serious crime. The advertising of any products, credibly claiming that they produce psychoactive effects through consumption, constitutes a crime and is punishable by imprisonment from one year to 5 years,” the law also provides.
