The customs inspectors from the Henri Coanda – Otopeni Travelers Border Office, together with the border policemen from the Bucharest Airports – Otopeni Border Crossing Surveillance and Control Center, seized, with a view to confiscation, approximately 182 kg of undeclared and evaded hookah tobacco, informs the Romanian Customs Authority (AVR).
Tobacco was discovered in the luggage of three passengers traveling on the Athens – Bucharest Otopeni route.
„On August 7, 2024, the customs inspectors from the Otopeni Calatori Border Customs Office – Bucharest Regional Customs Directorate, together with border policemen from the Bucharest Airports – Otopeni Border Crossing Surveillance and Control Center (CSCTFABO), following the analysis of risk carried out by the customs inspectors, with a view to confiscating from three passengers traveling on the Athens – Bucharest Otopeni route, the amount of hookah tobacco was not properly marked, it was undeclared and evaded customs clearance suspicions that the constitutive elements of some crimes are met, the cases were handed over to the competent criminal investigation bodies within the C.S.C.T.F.A.B.O.
