Natural gas prices in Romania will be competitive from 2027, probably corroborated ongoing imports, says Dan Dragan, chairman of the Board of Directors of SNGN Romgaz natural gas corporation.
„Whether we are talking about electricity or natural gas, certainly from 2027 prices for natural gas will be competitive and at that time probably corroborated with the imports that are still in progress, it will represent an advantage for the final consumer,” Dragan said on Monday at the Energy Forum organised by Financial Intelligence.
Asked how he sees the market after the capping of energy prices, the head of Romgaz said that he wants „a competitive market”.
„I want it to be a competitive market. If we look at what it was more than six years ago, we were perhaps the most competitive electricity market in this part of Europe, including through the liberalisation of prices for household users. I want and I am convinced that competitiveness, more producers, more suppliers, bringing traders back to the wholesale electricity market will contribute to the development and marking on the market a fair price, which every consumer in Romania must have. I am convinced that the investments that are being made at the moment in grids, new production facilities, the competition that has appeared on trading platforms, including in Romania – we have two spot markets, probably there will be intraday markets – I am convinced that all this can only lead to a fair and sustainable price for the final costumers,” said Dragan.
