National Defence Minister Angel Tilvar met on Tuesday at the Ministry headquarters with the new defence attaché at the U.S. Embassy in Bucharest, Colonel Robert Kammerer, in the presence of the latter’s predecessor, Colonel Keith Derbenwick.

Angel Tilvar thanked the American side for their commitment in Romania, an „essential” aspect in strengthening the deterrence and defence posture in the Black Sea region amid a constantly changing security environment, the Defence Ministry said in a release.

„Romania and the U.S. share a solid strategic partnership, based on common regional security and stability goals,” the Romanian official pointed out.

The talks also focused on the continuation of joint projects and the identification of new cooperation opportunities in the context of the current geostrategic challenges in the Euro-Atlantic region.

In the end, the minister thanked outgoing Colonel Keith Derbenwick for his activity as U.S. defence attaché in Bucharest.
