Published on

The Ministry of Education on Tuesday put up for consultation a draft government decision approving a strategic framework for the internationalisation of Romania’s higher education system.

The strategic framework also envisages a series of internationalisation results, such as: improving education and research quality, transferring knowledge and innovation, increasing the competitiveness of higher education establishments by attracting students and academic staff from all over the world, socio-economic and cultural development of the country.

An essential component of the internationalisation of the higher education system is academic mobility. With support from the Ministry of Education, higher education establishments will have to put forth measures to boost learning mobility.

Among the related priorities to implement the strategic framework for the internationalisation of Romania’s higher education system are boosting learning mobility for Romanian students; improving support services for mobility; supporting the initiative of European universities for co-operation; decentralisation of the entry process for citizens of EU third countries; increasing the international visibility of Romania’s higher education establishments.

Other priorities relate to the simplification of the recognition and equivalence of diplomas and visa granting; virtual exchanges and online collaborative international learning initiatives; improving collaboration with Romanian academics abroad; promoting study and research programmes geared for sustainable development and the green transition.
