Edward Iordanescu: A memorable victory, a Generation of Soul

Published on

Coach Edward Iordanescu said on Monday, at the end of the football match Romania – Ukraine, score 3-0, at EURO 2024, that it was a memorable victory for the „tricolors”, whom he called the „Generation of Soul”, due to the devotion and sacrifice shown.

„We have time to enjoy it, it’s a memorable, historic victory. I thank to the audience that was so warm, so active throughout the game. But first of all, let’s congratulate the boys, because they put themselves in the service of the team overall, we ran a lot. I will congratulate them and hug them. They knew everything about us, we also knew about the Ukrainians, but all in all, we performed very well, even when it was pressure. I’m glad it is a clear victory and I’m glad we didn’t concede a goal, it’s very important for what’s to come,” Edward Iordanescu said on ProTV.

„I am happy for Stanciu that he was declared ‘Man of the match’, but our star is the group, the team. I thank all those who played, who gave everything and equally to those who did not play and who lived to the fullest today. There will be an analysis, maybe we had not very good moments, but it’s our duty to stay balanced. Today the team must enjoy but tomorrow we have to focus and continue on our way,” added the Romanian coach.

Romania will play the following matches against Belgium on June 22 (Cologne, 22:00) and Slovakia on June 26 (Frankfurt).
