ELECTIONS 2024/Almost 3,000 Romanians from abroad, registered in first 2 months to vote by mail

As many as 1,410 Romanian citizens who are abroad registered with the Permanent Electoral Authority, starting from April and until Friday morning, to vote by mail in this year’s parliamentary elections and 1,461 to express their choice in the presidential elections.

At the same time, to vote in a polling station 982 Romanians from outside the borders registered to vote in a parliamentary section and 834 to express their choice in the presidential elections.

Starting on April 1, 2024, Romanian voters who wish to vote in this year’s presidential and/or parliamentary elections, by mail or at a polling station abroad closer to their home or residence, can register online on the portal www.votstrainatate.ro, managed by the Permanent Electoral Authority.

In order to exercise the right to vote at a polling station, the Romanian voter with domicile or residence abroad can register in the Electoral Register until the expiry date no more than 15 days from the date of the start of the electoral period.

The term of registration as a postal voter begins on April 1, 2024 and expires 45 days before the voting date.

The presidential election will take place this year on September 15 and 29, and the parliamentary election will take place on December 8.
