The chairwoman of the National Agency for Sports, Elisabeta Lipa, stated, on Thursday, at the headquarters of the Romanian Olympic and Sports Committee (COSR), that her greatest wish is for Romanian athletes to obtain more medals at the Olympic Games in Paris than in Tokyo.
„Emotions run high as time passes and the day of the competition approaches and we must be with all Romanian athletes. Now that we have reached 107 athletes, we must believe from the first to the last athlete that they can represent Romania as well as possible. And what I want most is to go beyond that 45th place [46th place, editor’s note] on which we finished in the Olympic Games in Tokyo. I want this plateau to end here and Paris to come with another ranking, which will give us another impetus to be able to believe in our potential for the future Olympic Games,” said Lipa at an event organized on the occasion of the announcement of rowers Ionela and Marius Cozmiuc, husband and wife, as bearers of the Romanian flag at the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in Paris.
Rowers Ionela and Marius Cozmiuc, husband and wife, will be the bearers of the Romanian flag at the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in Paris, on July 26, the Romanian Olympic and Sports Committee announced on Thursday.
Team Romania reached 107 qualified athletes at the Olympic Games (July 26-August 11), in 18 sports.
