Elisabeta Palace to host Romanian Red Cross Day

The Crown Custodian, Her Majesty Margareta, will host the Romanian Red Cross Day at the Elisabeta Palace on Thursday, from 18,00hrs, the Royal House announced.

Her Majesty will be joined by His Royal Highness Prince Radu and Her Royal Highness Princess Sofia, according to a press release sent to AGERPRES on Wednesday.

President of the Romanian Red Cross Camelia Sucu, members of the Steering Committee, leaders of the branches and numerous volunteers, representatives of the Presidential Administration, the Romanian Government, members of the Diplomatic Corps will be present.

This year marks the 148th anniversary of the founding of the Romanian Red Cross on July 4, 1876, 2024 being the second year in which the Romanian Red Cross Day is celebrated under the High Royal Patronage, after 1947.

The Romanian National Red Cross Society is a humanitarian organisation, member of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, auxiliary to the public authorities and empowered by law to provide humanitarian assistance in case of disasters and to come to the aid of vulnerable people, services being provided on a voluntary, impartial and neutral basis.

The Romanian Red Cross is present nationwide, with representation at each territorial level, with 47 branches, 1,996 sub-branches and 1,307 committees, and 5,500 volunteers who are actively involved in its activities.
