A total of 201 localities in 30 counties have been affected by the floods and weather phenomena of the last few days, the head of the Department for Emergency Situations (DSU), Raed Arafat, informs on Thursday.
A total of 549 people from 12 localities were evacuated, and approximately 150 returned to their homes, the secretary of state with the Ministry of Interior told a press conference at the Victoria Palace. People were evacuated from the counties of Covasna, most of them from Botosani, Brasov and Vrancea.
Firefighters intervened to evacuate water from 104 houses, 17 household annexes, 339 yards, six premises of public institutions, one economic operator, 86 cellars or basements and 32 streets.
Also, 171 trees, 11 construction elements and a pole were removed, affecting 126 cars, 15 of which were from the Dambovita County Police Inspectorate.
Road traffic was affected on six national roads and eight county roads.
Railway traffic was affected on the 300 railway line, between the Predeal and Timisu de Sus stations, due to the collapse of the embankment over a length of about 50 metres. According to Raed Arafat, the situation is to be remedied, and currently trains are running on a single line, which may cause delays.
The State Secretary recalled that a person from Caras-Severin County died after being struck by lightning. Another person was injured for the same reason and was transported to the hospital.
„I advise the population, when warnings are given, not to stay in open spaces, in the fields. To read on fiipregatit.ro or on the DSU application the recommendations on what to do to avoid such situations,” Arafat informed.
