Employees of the gov’t work apparatus dissatisfied with the draft ordinance on salary increases

Published on

The employees of the government work apparatus continued to show their dissatisfaction with the salary increases advanced by the Executive, through a protest of the „sad umbrellas”, but also through a press release criticizing the proposal for an emergency ordinance put into transparency by the Ministry of Labour, sent to AGERPRES by the Union of Employees of the Government Work Apparatus (SAALG).

Regarding the „sad umbrellas” protest, SAALG representatives posted images from an area of the Government building where they put several umbrellas, with protest messages attached, announcing the spontaneous protest and demanding: „Fair wages for fair work: Every contribution deserves fair recognition”.

SAALG leader Noni-Emil Iordache says in the press release sent to AGERPRES that the draft emergency ordinance put into decision-making transparency by the Ministry of Labour emphasizes „the same unfair wage construction for the Government’s working apparatus (Prime Minister’s Chancellery, Prime Minister’s Control Body, General Secretariat of the Government and Department for Fight against Fraud – DLAF, later joining the National Agency for Public Procurement – ANAP) in relation to other institutions, some even subordinate”.

SAALG representatives claim that negotiations with the head of the Prime Minister’s Chancellery and with the Secretary General of the Government ended on May 13 with the following message: „You will have a salary increase ‘around 15%’ in May, not June. The two ministers gave us assurances that they would fight for the percentage to be 15.”

„The draft piece of legislation posted on the Labour Ministry website is not appropriated by the head of the institution, so it cannot be known whether the form displayed on the site is its official form or a simple draft,” the press release also says.
