European Commissioner’s portfolio for Jobs and Social Rights – important, says PM Ciolacu

Published on

Prime minister Marcel Ciolacu said on Monday that he had a discussion and will continue to discuss with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen on the European Commissioner portfolio that Roxana Minzatu, Romania’s nominee, will receive, mentioning that the portfolio for jobs, social rights and housing is important and tempting, but a decision has not yet been made.

Marcel Ciolacu said that this portfolio will have extensive powers and is „social-democratic”.

On September 2, prime minister Marcel Ciolacu announced that he was proposing Roxana Minzatu for the post of EU Commissioner on behalf of Romania.
