The turnover of market services provided to the population in H1 2024 was 1.5 percent down in unadjusted terms from the same period of 2023, and 1.1 percent lower when adjusted for working days and seasonality, shows data released on Wednesday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).
This decline was the effect of the shrinking turnover of the activities of travel agencies and tour operators (-11.6 percent), hairdressing services and other cosmetic activities (-10.5 percent), HoReCa activities (-1.6 percent), gambling and other recreational activities (-1.6 percent). Conversely, there was a 9.6 percent increase in washing and dry cleaning of textiles and furs.
Month over month, the turnover of market services provided to the population, unadjusted, was 9 percent higher overall due to the increase in HoReCa activities (+13.3 percent), the activities of travel agencies and tour operators (+9.4 percent), washing and dry cleaning of textiles and furs (+3.9 percent), and hairdressing services and other cosmetic activities (+1.6 percent). On the other hand, there was a 3.9 percent drop in gambling and other recreational activities.
Adjusted for working days and seasonality, the turnover of market services provided to the population was 1.8 percent up in June 2024 compared to the previous month.
