Direct investment of non-residents in Romania amounted to EUR 2.095 billion in the first three months of this year, down 5.46% compared to EUR 2.216 billion in the similar period of 2023, according to data published by the National Bank of Romania (BNR).
„Direct investments of non-residents in Romania amounted to EUR 2.095 billion (compared to EUR 2.216 billion between January and March 2023), of which equity participations (including estimated reinvested profit) amounted to EUR 2.330 billion, and intragroup loans recorded a net value of EUR -235 million,” reads the release.
As many as 1,675 foreign-owned companies were established in Romania in the first three months of 2024, down 7.4% compared to the same period in 2023, according to data centralized by the National Trade Register Office (ONRC), consulted by AGERPRES.
The 1,675 new companies had a total subscribed share capital of over USD 10,228 million, up 48.4% compared to the subscribed capital of the companies registered in January-March 2023, of USD 6,891 million.
At the end of March 2024, as many as 252,901 companies with foreign participation in the share capital operated in Romania. The value of the subscribed capital stood at over 70.256 billion dollars.
The largest number of companies with foreign participation was with investors from Italy, namely 52,981 (subscribed capital of USD 3.361 billion), but the largest value of the share capital belongs to Dutch companies, namely USD 13.063 billion, in 6,134 companies.
