Foreign Affair Minister Luminita Odobescu on Friday welcomed Ambassador of the State of Israel to Romania Lior Ben Dor, for the presentation of the copies of the letters of credence, the Romanian Foreign Ministry (MAE) informs.
In this context, Minister Odobescu voiced deep concern about the potential aggravation of the situation in the Middle East and expressed Romania’s support for the measures to de-escalate the situation and avoid any escalation.
Minister Odobescu brought to mind that Romania condemned the October 7 attacks firmly and at the highest levels. At the same time, she assured that Romania will continue to advocate vocally, both bilaterally and in international fora, for the release of all hostages held captive in the Gaza Strip. She also highlighted the importance of reaching a permanent cease-fire agreement in the Gaza Strip and presented Romania’s humanitarian efforts addressed to the population.
During the discussions, Luminita Odobescu underscored Romania’s commitment to combating anti-Semitism, pointing out that the country is actively undertaking concrete actions in this regard.
She expressed confidence that during Ambassador Lior Ben Dor’s term of office in Bucharest, the traditional Romanian-Israeli relations will continue to strengthen in all areas of common interest.
