Gabonese foreign minister dies after heart attack at cabinet meeting

Published on

Gabonese Foreign Minister Michael Moussa Adamo died in Libreville on Friday after suffering a heart attack during a government meeting, the government and a presidential source told AFP, Agerpres informs.

The minister, a close friend of President Ali Bongo Ondimba, „suffered a heart attack” and, „despite the efforts of specialists”, could not be resuscitated, according to a short government statement.

„He sat down at the beginning of the Council of Ministers and started to feel bad,” a source close to the presidential palace told AFP. He was urgently transported „unconscious” to a military hospital and placed in intensive care, and shortly after noon he died, said the source, who requested anonymity.

The minister was 62 years old.
