Minister of Culture Raluca Turcan said on Wednesday that she was „enthusiastically” looking forward to attending the concerts of the „George Enescu” International Festival, stressing that this is a „strategic” project for Romania, write Agerpres.
„There is very little time left until we will all applaud the more than 3,500 renowned artists coming to Bucharest between August 27 and September 24 for the George Enescu International Festival, an event under the High Patronage of the President of Romania and financed by the Romanian Government through the Ministry of Culture. I am looking forward to attending the concerts programmed by Maestro Cristian Macelaru, artistic director of the festival and the tireless Artexim team,” Turcan wrote on Facebook. Raluca Turcan is convinced that this new edition will continue on the path started from the first concert of the Enescu Festival, held in 1958.
„World-renowned orchestras, award-winning conductors and soloists will take to the stages of Bucharest, at Sala Palatului [Palace Hall], the Romanian Athenaeum, Sala Radio [the Radio Hall], the Auditorium Hall and the Odeon Theatre during the 29 daya of the festival. It is a joyful occasion for Romania and all Romanians to see in Bucharest artists such as Maestro Zubin Mehta, honorary president of the festival, Sir Simon Rattle, Yuja Wang, David Grimal or Gautier Capucon, to name just a few of those who will take the stage in front of the Romanian public. The Enescu Festival is a strategic project for Romania, a country brand, which is why I have supported it with all available resources since the first days of my mandate at the Ministry of Culture,” said Raluca Turcan, Minister of Culture.
The 26th edition of the George Enescu International Festival has the theme „Generosity through Music”. The program includes more than 3,500 of the world’s most renowned artists, over 40 orchestras from 16 countries, opera premieres and educational concerts for children.
