Gov’t approves allocation of Romania’s contribution to International Fund for Cultural Diversity

Published on

Romania’s first voluntary contribution to the International Fund for Cultural Diversity (IFCD) managed by UNESCO of USD 10,773 was allocated on Thursday under a government decision, write Agerpres.

The funds are intended to support the financing of projects that promote and protect the diversity of cultural expressions, and they will contribute to the consolidation of the partnership with UNESCO, as it is concrete proof of the concern and efforts made by Romania in order to meet its commitments.

„Also, such involvement would give more visibility to Romania, in the wider context of the ongoing efforts to create a more meaningful country profile inside UNESCO. We can mention, for example, the Culture Indicators 2030 project measuring the contribution of culture in the context of the National Strategy for the Sustainable Development of Romania 2030 or a project for cultural workers in Romania carried out with technical assistance from UNESCO, an objective also related to Reform 3 in the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), Component 11 – Tourism and Culture,” according to the government. The projects presented as an example as well as other projects at various stages of implementation carried out by Romania together with UNESCO could benefit from a closer and more productive relationship that Romania could have with the organisation.
