Gov’t approves creation of strategic rail freight company Carpatica Feroviar

Published on

The government approved at its meeting on Wednesday the establishment of rail freight company Carpatica Feroviar SA, which will ensure the strategic transports of the Romanian state, „performing two types of activities – of strategic interest, falling under the need for prioritized mobility following the partnerships struck under international obligations, and freight transport in crisis situations and for commercial interest.

Carpatica Feroviar is a rail freight company with state capital financed from its own sources, and which complements the requirements of the rail transport market,” declared government spokesman Mihai Constantin in a press conference at the Victoria Palace.

The capitalization of this company is RON 125,000, an amount pinpointed in the budget of the Transport and Infrastructure Ministry for the year 2024, Constantin mentioned.
