The Government approved on Thursday the development and implementation of the Strategy on Open Data, with objectives as the creation of opportunities for the business milieu, for the research field and for the technological development area, through which services and products could be expanded, the Government’s spokesperson Mihai Constantin announced.

„The development and implementation of the Open Data Strategy approved by the Government strengthens Romania’s position as a regional leader in digitalization and innovation, contributing at the same time to sustainable economic growth and to achieving the strategic objective of joining the OECD. At the European level, economic growth from open data is estimated to reach over 200 billion euros next year, in 2025. Thus, in the first process of accession to OECD, we want to create these opportunities also in Romania for the business milieu, for the research field and for the technological development area, in order to expand services and products, but also to increase citizens’ trust in digital tools, including those of public interaction of public services. In essence, data represent a raw material from which information and insights can be extracted and is a fundamental resource for modern technology, for business, for science and for many other fields”, Mihai Constantin told a press conference at the Victoria Palace.
