Gov’t sets up working group for pharma industry to ensure access to essential medicines at fair prices

Published on

The Executive approved on Thursday the establishment of an inter-institutional working group dedicated to the pharmaceutical industry, aimed at identifying solutions to allow patients access to essential medicines at reasonable prices, said Government spokesman Mihai Constantin.

„Another decision the Government made in today’s meeting is aimed at creating a balance that will allow patients to access essential medicines at reasonable prices and ensure the competitiveness of the pharmaceutical industry. In order to formulate in a coordinated manner the priorities in this area and Romania’s position in the relevant negotiations and steps on this subject at the European Union level, another approved memorandum provides for the establishment of an inter-institutional working group dedicated to the pharmaceutical industry,” Mihai Constantin told a press conference at the Victoria Palace.

He said that the inter-institutional group will work in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Economy, Entrepreneurship and Tourism and the Ministry of European Funds.
