Gov’t Spokesperson: Minimum wage under analysis of PM; in principle, it will not increase

Published on

The topic regarding the minimum wage is under the analysis of the Prime Minister, who mentioned that, „in principle, it will not increase,” Government Spokesperson Ioana Dogioiu said.

She responded to journalists’ questions about the options being considered by the Government regarding the minimum wage and whether a potential increase is being considered, taking into account that employers’ associations conveyed that they cannot support this and wish to freeze the minimum wage for 2026.

„The issue is under analysis of the Prime Minister and when I asked him, he replied: in principle, I underscore, in principle the minimum wage will not increase. But the topic is currently under the analysis of the Prime Minister,” Ioana Dogioiu told a press conference on Thursday at the Victoria Palace.

Asked whether this matter had been discussed within the governing coalition, she mentioned: „What happens in the coalition stays in the coalition.” AGERPRES
