Grindeanu: We are followers of dialogue, not unanimity; we are a party with a social-democratic specificity in a right-wing coalition

The interim chairman of the PSD, Sorin Grindeanu, declared on Monday that the social democrats are followers of dialogue, not unanimity, and the PSD is a party with a social democrat specificity in a right-wing coalition and understands to stick to the principles that define it.

Grindeanu was asked if the speech he gave in Parliament on Sunday was an attack on the PSD partners in the governing coalition.

„During this 3-month period, PSD cannot in any case be accused of not offering dialogue. We were always the ones who went, we discussed, we did not give ultimatums, we went and tried to find common solutions within the coalition, we are the ones who were active partners in the dialogue. We are the followers of dialogue, not unanimity. I agree with those who say that it would be better to have some kind of dialogue within the coalition, not imposing solutions and not unanimity. We are a party with a social-democratic specific in a right-wing coalition and we understand to stick to the principles that define us and we are not doing this today, we did not do it just yesterday, but we have been doing it since we have been doing politics. It is our identity that we understand from all points of view and with all the means and levers to support it. All these actions are part of what a social-democratic party must do,” Grindeanu said.

He mentioned that he did not want to have a „personalized” discussion.

„I want to say that PSD, beyond who is prime minister today, who is president of PSD, who is minister of finance, I don’t want to personalize these things. PSD doesn’t work this way. If someone tries to impose certain solutions on us, these things, if they are not part of a dialogue in which PSD solutions are also part, then it means that that is not a dialogue and we must extract ourselves from this,” he said.
