The health of a nation begins with the health of our children, said prime minister Marcel Ciolacu, on Monday, at the Victoria Palace, at the event „Romanian Government for Health – the future is being built today! The health of a nation starts with the health of our children”, organized by the government and UNICEF Romania.
„The health of a nation begins with the health of our children. And, for this reason, it is very important to focus both on prevention and health education, as well as on the existence of services for children and parents at the community level,” stated Marcel Ciolacu.
He also emphasised the investments in health scheduled for the next period, recalling the over 2 billion euros from the PNNR for the modernisation of the infrastructure of the Romanian health system, adding that „another 7 billion RON are allocated for new and modern hospitals, equipped at the higher standards”.
The head of the Executive also referred to the importance of ensuring human resources in the health system, thus motivating the unlocking of employment in the system, for approximately 13,000 vacant positions in hospitals and ambulance services.
The prime minister also told those present that the fight against drugs must go to a completely different level, calling on all the NGOs involved to intensify prevention, but also reiterating the fact that the National Anti-Drug Agency must be moved to the Ministry of Health, because the aid must come from the Ministry of Health, not the Ministry of the Interior. „The future of our children depends on what each of us does today!” Ciolacu said.
