Hydropower producer Hidroelectrica reported a net profit of 3.95 billion RON in the first half of this year, an increase of 46% compared to the same period last year, the company said in a press release. The company obtained revenues of 6.98 billion RON, up 42% compared to the same period last year, write Agerpres.
According to the financial report sent to the Bucharest Stock Exchange, the (net) energy produced and sold increased by 45% (10,625 GWh) in the six-month period that ended on June 30, 2023, from 7,347 GWh in the similar period last year. This increase was mainly due to the high hydropower recorded in the first half of 2023 but also to the base effect following the drought that characterised the first half of 2022. Hidroelectrica is the largest producer of green energy in Romania and the main provider of technological services required in the National Energy System.
The company operates 182 hydropower plants and five pumping stations, with a total installed hydropower production capacity of 6.3 GW. Hidroelectrica was listed this year on the Bucharest Stock Exchange, the first day of trading of the company’s shares being July 12.
