The president of the liberals, Nicolae Ciuca, said on Tuesday, in a video message, that he is inviting the leader of the USR, Elena Lasconi, and the representatives of this political party to the PNL headquarters, to discuss the future of the country, arguing that the censure motion announced by Lasconi is a „non-serious exercise”, because the parliamentary configuration does not allow a rightist Government.

„Today we are in government with the PSD because the USR decided in 2021, after six months of governing with the PNL, to leave the government and submit a motion of censure together with the AUR. Today we see the same frivolous exercise by the same actor, the USR led by Mrs. Lasconi. She announces a motion of censure without discussion with us. She should know that the current parliamentary configuration does not allow a rightist Government, as I want”, Ciuca said in the message posted on Facebook.

Ciuca also said that he and PNL are fighting „a real danger – PSD, a danger to democracy”.

„I publicly invite Ms. Lasconi and the USR to the PNL headquarters to discuss the future. If we want to have democracy and not set fire to the country, but fight with reason and force against abuses. I am a serious person, I do not give in to political approaches and frivolous when the country is in danger of being taken over by the PSD. There are still two months until we have a new Government legitimized by the vote of the Romanians, until then the economic environment in Romania wants responsible leaders, pensioners need pensions, families need security, and the institutions must function”, added the PNL president.

The president of USR, Elena Lasconi, announced on Tuesday that she is working, together with colleagues from the party, on a motion of censure against the Ciolacu Government and urged the PNL leader, Nicolae Ciuca, to sign it.
