Interim President Ilie Bolojan will participate, on Thursday, in the meeting of heads of state and government of the „Coalition of the Willing” on security in Ukraine, which will take place in Paris.
According to the agenda, the head of state will take part in this meeting starting at 10:25 (Romanian time).
Last week, after the European Council meeting in Brussels, interim President Ilie Bolojan was asked what the main goal of the Paris Summit was and what progress could be made.
„At least in the coming period, discussions will continue regarding this plan that Europe supports in order to strengthen its defense, including to support that, after the ceasefire in Ukraine, which we hope will be reached as soon as possible, there will be some assurance conditions, in order to have a security that is ensured for Ukraine. And, therefore, Romania, even if, as I said before, we will not send troops to Ukraine in any form, will participate in these discussions, both the technical ones, which relate to the military area, because these aspects that relate to planning, strategies, and which transit, for example, in Romania, need the respective data, so that the General Staff can be informed of what is being considered. And we will participate in these discussions, that’s what we agreed on and that’s our position,” Bolojan declared on March 20.
Ilie Bolojan participated on March 15 in the videoconference meeting convened by British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, where he emphasized Romania’s commitment to continuing support for Ukraine and for efforts to ensure a lasting and just peace.
„Our close coordination in this process remains essential. I underlined Romania’s commitment to continuing support for Ukraine and for efforts to ensure a lasting and just peace. An unconditional ceasefire is a first step towards this objective, and Ukraine must agree to it,” wrote Ilie Bolojan, on the X platform, after the meeting.
