Industrial production (unadjusted series) fell by 3.9% in the first two months of this year, compared to the same period last year, due to decreases in the three industrial sectors, namely manufacturing (-4.3%), mining and quarrying (-2.9%) and production and supply of electricity and heat, gas, hot water and air conditioning (-1.8%).
According to data published on Tuesday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS), industrial production, working days and seasonally adjusted series, was down by 0.6%, as a result of the decreases in mining and quarrying (-2.3%), manufacturing (-0.6%) and production and supply of electricity, heat, gas, hot water and air conditioning (-0.4%).
On a monthly basis, in February 2025, industrial production (unadjusted series) increased by 7.5% compared to the previous month, due to manufacturing (+10.4%). Production and supply of electricity, heat, gas, hot water and air conditioning supply and mining and quarrying decreased by 4.2% and 2.4% respectively.
Industrial production, as working days and seasonally adjusted series, was 2.1% lower than in January, due to decreases in manufacturing (-2.7%) and mining and quarrying (-0.6%). Production and supply of electricity and heat, gas, hot water and air conditioning increased by 3.4%.
Compared with the corresponding month of the previous year, industrial production (unadjusted series) fell by 5.2% in February, as a result of decreases in mining and quarrying (-6.7%) and manufacturing (-6.1%). Production and supply of electricity, heat, gas, hot water and air conditioning rose by 0.9%.
Industrial production, as working days and seasonally adjusted series, was 3.2% lower than in the corresponding month of the previous year, as a result of decreases in mining (-6.3%) and manufacturing (-3.7%). Production and supply of electricity and heat, gas, hot water and air conditioning increased by 2.5%.
