Industrial producer prices in Romania fall by 7.9pct in March 2024

Industrial producer prices in Romania overall – domestic market and external market – decreased by 7.9% in March 2024, y-o-y, and by 1.8% on a monthly basis, show data published on Tuesday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).

As far as the domestic market goes, the industrial producer price index declined 2.52% in March 2024, on a monthly basis, and 10.93% y-o-y.

As far as the foreign market is concerned, in March compared to February, industrial producer prices were higher by 0.15% in March on a monthly basis and by 0.53% y-o-y.

By large industrial groups, increases in industrial producer prices March 2024 as against March 2023 were recorded in capital goods (+6.23%), consumer goods (3.96%) and durable goods (+1.76%). In the intermediate goods industry, there was a decrease of 4.16%, and in the energy industry one of 22.43%.

By activity, prices increased in water supply, sanitation, waste management, decontamination (+16.53%) and manufacturing (1.05%). In contrast, there were decreases in mining and quarrying (-7.9%) and in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning production and supply (26.6%).
