The overall industry turnover, on the total domestic and foreign markets, increased by 10.3% in February this year, in nominal terms, compared to January 2025, and by 1.9% compared to February 2024, according to data published on Thursday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).
Over January 1 – February 28, 2025, the overall turnover in industry (domestic and foreign markets) decreased, in nominal terms, by 1.2%.compared to the period January 1 – February 29, 2024.
The decrease came as a result of the decline in the manufacturing industry by 1.9%. The extractive industry increased by 17.8%.
By major industrial groups, decreases were recorded in the energy industry (-13.3%) and the capital goods industry (-4.2%). Increases in turnover were recorded in the: durable goods industry (+15.7%), consumer goods industry (+3.5%) and intermediate goods industry (+0.4%).
The overall industry turnover increased due to the growth recorded in the manufacturing industry (+10.6%) and the extractive industry (+3.8%), in February 2025 compared to the previous month.
By major industrial groups, increases were recorded in the: durable goods industry (+18%), capital goods industry (+16.7%), intermediate goods industry (+10.8%) and consumer goods industry (+3.1%). The energy industry decreased by 3.1%.
The industry turnover decreased, in nominal terms, in February 2025 compared to the corresponding month of the previous year as a result of the decline recorded in the manufacturing industry by 2.7%. The extractive industry increased by 19.7%.
By major industrial groups, decreases were recorded in the energy industry (-17%), the intermediate goods industry (-2.3%) and the capital goods industry (-2%). Increases were recorded in the durable goods industry (+15.7%) and the consumer goods industry (+2.1%)
According to the INS, the net turnover (excluding VAT) is calculated by summing up the invoiced revenues resulting from the sales of goods, execution of works and provision of services, less rebates, discounts and other reductions granted to customers. The following are not included in the turnover: the value of packaging returned after delivery; excise duties; subsidies received from public authorities or EU institutions; the sale of own land and fixed assets; rebates, discounts and other reductions granted to customers.
