The continued development of the audiovisual sector in Romania was the topic of the meeting on Wednesday between interim Senate President Mircea Abrudean and representatives from Netflix, Tomasz Dabrowski, Director of Public Policy for Central and Eastern Europe, and Alexandra Preda, Public Policy Coordinator for Central and Eastern Europe.
„The discussion focused on Netflix’s ongoing partnerships with Romanian distributors and producers for the acquisition of content from a diverse selection of Romanian films, as well as on various ways to help the industry overcome barriers to future growth. During the meeting, both parties discussed best practice models through which the audiovisual industry can increasingly contribute to economic growth, as well as the attractiveness of a career in the audiovisual area for younger generations and future Romanian filmmakers,” reads a press release from the Senate.
According to the quoted source, since its launch in Romanian in 2017, Netflix has been one of the main entertainment choices for Romanian viewers, offering a variety of high-quality films and series from around the world, alongside a rich list of popular cinematic hits from Romanian theatres that then reach new audiences on Netflix across the country.
