Investments of 10 million euros in assembly factory for renewables industry components in Jiu Valley

Published on

RenewAcad, a brand belonging to Wind Power Energy, launched on Wednesday, in Petrila, Hunedoara County, a project to establish an assembly plant for renewable energy industry components, the investment value being about 10 million euros, with the financing being provided by the Just Transition Program.

„The Petrila factory will be built on the former industrial platform of the Petrila Mine and will produce components for batteries for energy storage, robots for cleaning photovoltaic panels and equipment for environmental monitoring, thus contributing to the development of the infrastructure necessary for Romania’s energy transition. This is clear proof that we can be part of the solution, that we can actively participate in building a cleaner and more sustainable future,” said Sebastian Enache, Managing Partner of Wind Power Energy, at the launch event, quoted in a company’s release sent to AGERPRES.

He stated that he wants this factory to be the core of a wider industrial ecosystem.

„In this sense, we plan to build a 20MWh energy storage battery near the factory, using locally produced components. This project will represent an essential step in closing the production and investment chain, demonstrating that we can develop a complete local industry, from the production of equipment to its use in integrated solutions for renewable energy,” Sebastian Enache added.

In turn, the executive director of the Jiu Valley Integrated Territorial Development Association, Alexandru Kelemen, said that this contract that Wind Power Energy signed is part of several investment contracts signed in the Jiu Valley, through the Association and the Just Transition Program. „In fact, there are 27 contracts in the Jiu Valley alone and I think we are starting to go down a good path. I also think that the investment is well placed because it also refers to our mining identity. We do not know what we will do in 10 years in the Jiu Valley, but we certainly know that we will always be miners and then it is important that both the cultural and industrial heritage is preserved, regardless of whether it is Petrila, whether it is Lonea, Lupeni, Livezeni or Vulcan”, declared Kelemen.

The investment in Petrila will generate over 50 jobs, helping socio-economically to the energy transition of the Jiu Valley, which is in a complex process of economic transformation. The future of the region depends on the implementation of sustainable initiatives that support both local economic development and the communities affected by changes in the energy sector.

Wind Power Energy constantly carries out specific consultancy activities in the field of wind and photovoltaic technology, including professional training for new professions such as renewable energy operators, wind turbine blade inspection and repair technicians, wind turbine installation technicians, wind turbine maintenance technicians or solar photovoltaic system installers.

Wind Power Energy was a pioneer by introducing three new occupations related to the renewable industry in COR, respectively for „Wind turbine blade inspection and repair technician COR code 311312”, „Wind turbine installation technician COR code 311313” and „Wind turbine maintenance technician COR code 311311”.

RenewACAD is the brand under which Wind Power Energy has built the largest network of renewable energy training centers in Romania. The network currently has four locations in Constanta, Bucharest, Petrosani and Rovinari.

RenewACAD provides technical courses for professional training in green energy, wind and photovoltaic, internationally accredited and locally authorized courses. RenewACAD has trained and continues to train over 90% of the personnel working in the field of renewable energies, based on over 150 technical modules, through a method based on practical courses in laboratories equipped with state-of-the-art technology.

The event in Petrila brought together representatives of local and central administration, industry partners and specialists in the field of renewable energy, providing a framework for discussion on the impact and benefits of this project for the region.
