President Klaus Iohannis sent, on Friday, a message on the occasion of Rosh Hashanah – the Jewish New Year 5784, in which he shows that this holiday represents the opportunity to renew the commitment for a society of the wealth and diversity of the common heritage of humanity, noting that, along of time, the Jews of our country had an important role in the development and modernization of Romanian society, culture and science, write Agerpres.
„On the occasion of the Jewish New Year, Rosh Hashanah 5784, I send to the leadership and members of the Federation of Jewish Communities from Romania – the Mosaic Cult congratulations and the warmest wishes for health and prosperity. Rosh Hashanah emphasizes for the Jewish people everywhere the significance of divine creation and the responsibility of others towards it. The Jewish New Year is an occasion of joy, but also a moment of reflection on our vocation and service, on the values and ideals that inspire us, on our participation in the fulfillment of the common good,” it is shown in the message of president Iohannis, presented, at the Choral Temple in Bucharest, by presidential adviser Sergiu Nistor.
„In a present marked by serious and complex challenges, in which the Jewish community in Romania continues to contribute to the fruition of the fruits of our coexistence, I reaffirm my confidence in Romania’s ability to build a European future based on respect, dialogue and mutual appreciation,” Iohannis asserted.
