Romania’s wholesale turnover (except for trade in motor vehicles and motorcycles) over January – May 2024 was 0.8 percent down in unadjusted terms from the year-ago period, but stayed flat when expressed in adjusted terms, the National Institute of Statistics (INS) informs on Wednesday.
According to statistical data, the year-over-year decline, unadjusted, in the wholesale turnover was mainly the effect of the downward trend in wholesale intermediation (-12.5 percent), wholesale of unprocessed agriculture products and livestock (-9.7 percent), wholesale of consumer goods other than food (-7.9 percent), and wholesale of foods, beverages and tobacco (-2.2 percent).
Conversely, growth was recorded in non-specialized wholesale (+16 percent), the specialized wholesale of other products (+9.7 percent), wholesale of other machinery, equipment and supplies (+15.6 percent), and the wholesale of computer and telecommunications equipment (+1.9 percent).
Expressed as workday and seasonally adjusted terms, the wholesale turnover in the reporting period (except for trade in motor vehicles and motorcycles) stayed in line with the previous figures.
