PNL (National Liberal Party) first vice-president Rares Bogdan on Thursday stated that the Liberals will discuss with the governing partners from the PSD (Social Democratic Party) about the possibility of moving the date of the presidential election to November or December.
„Previously, we discussed September 15 and 29. Now, for sure, we will talk with our governing partners and we will see how the Romanians will react to the campaign in August, and we will see the degree of involvement at the local level. And if we find that it would be better, in order to have a large voter turnout, as we had in the recent European and local elections, when the voter turnout exceeded 9 million, then of course we can discuss about the possibility of moving the date to November or December, but only if there is agreement inside the coalition,” said Rares Bogdan, when asked about the date of the presidential election, if they will be in September or at the end of the year.
On Wednesday, the president of the PNL, Nicolae Ciuca, said that the authorities could analyze whether the presidential election should be organized close to the parliamentary elections, as it was in the past, while he said it very clearly that there is no government decision regarding the date of their implementation taken yet.
