PNL (National Liberal Party) leader Nicolae Ciuca on Thursday stated that he has not recently had any discussion with the PSD (Social Democratic Leader) leader, Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu, stating that the „operational pause” in the dialogue is only „for those who truly understand what it means.”
„We haven’t spoken lately. Not even [through intermediaries – editor’s note]. The operational pause is only for those who really understand what it means,” said Ciuca at the Parliament on Thursday.
Referring to the resolution of some tasks of the Executive, Ciuca said: „It is solved at the level of the government structures. We have no problems. The political lines have been agreed and assumed through the governing programme and are being carried out as such.”
He mentioned that before interrupting the dialogue with Marcel Ciolacu, he had several discussions regarding, among other things, the European commissioner from Romania, the inequities in the field of military pensions.
„We have never done anything other than to maintain this balance between what political commitment means and facts,” added Ciuca.
Asked if he will return to an alliance with Marcel Ciolacu after the elections, Ciuca said: „Let’s see what the parliamentary arithmetic is and see what political decisions will be made.” He denied a possible discussion with the head of state after the return of Klaus Iohannis to the country from the USA: „I did not have any kind of discussion with Mr. Iohannis.”
Regarding the steps for a right-wing pole, the president of the PNL pointed out: „I discussed with those from REPER, PMP (People’s Movement Party) (…) We are all discussing.”
Ciuca also claims that he likes Olympic sports, but he mentioned that he has never been to the protocol villa where there is a mini golf course. „I’ve never been there, I don’t know, I have no comment. Allow me to only comment on what I do,” Ciuca said.
