Liberal leader Nicolae Ciuca / EPP Congress: Organising the meeting in Bucharest, a sign of recognition of PNL’s importance and Romania’s relevance

The organisation of the European People’s Party Congress in Bucharest is a sign of recognition of the importance of the National Liberal Party (PNL) within the European People’s Party family and the relevance of Romania, Liberal leader Nicolae Ciuca told a joint press conference with EPP Chairman Manfred Weber on Tuesday.

Nicolae Ciuca had a meeting at the PNL headquarters with the chairman of the European People’s Party, Manfred Weber, present in Bucharest on the occasion of the EPP Congress that will take place on Wednesday and Thursday.

„I am very happy to have received this decision that the European People’s Party will hold the EPP Congress here in Bucharest in the next three days. It is a sign of recognition of the importance that the PNL has within the European People’s family, in the centre-right family of European politics and, at the same time, it is a sign of recognition of the relevance that Romania has for everything that means solidarity, unity and measures, decisions that will be made for the future of Europe,” said Nicolae Ciuca.

The PNL chairman said that Romania has managed, through the commitment of its citizens, through political commitments, to evolve since 2007, when it joined the European Union, until today.

„As such, at this moment, the sign under which this Congress is taking place is one of solidarity and it is one of decisions that we must make for the citizens of Europe, for the citizens of Romania, for everything that means safety and security in the immediate future, in the medium term and, why not, decisions at such a Congress must be aimed at long-term objectives,” Ciuca pointed out.

He underlined the support of the European People’s Party in meeting the objectives of the Romanian economy, farmers, industry and the local business environment.

According to Ciuca, the objectives of the EPP Congress refer to supporting the citizens of the European Union, the citizens of Romania, preserving the values of the centre-right policies and ensuring the internal and external security of the EU and of each country.

„I am convinced that Chairman Weber will make the decisions to be taken at the Congress more clear. Certainly, at the end of this congress, we will have approved the European People’s Party campaign strategy and, of course, the electoral plan. As such, here is one more reason to thank the leadership of the European People’s Party, to thank Manfred personally for having chosen to come to Bucharest and to have all these decisions that are very important for the citizens, for all of us, for the future of Europe, for the future of our children here in Bucharest,” the PNL leader added.
