Maia Sandu, only European and democratic solution for Rep. of Moldova, PM Ciolacu says

Published on

Prime minister Marcel Ciolacu told private broadcaster Digi24 on Tuesday evening that Maia Sandu is the only European and democratic solution for the Republic of Moldova, and Romania will help the neighbouring country, because „there are Romanians there, not anything else”.

Marcel Ciolacu was asked about Russia’s latest threats against the president of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, whose policy was compared by the Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zaharova to the politics of the Third Reich.

„There is no other democratic solution than Maia Sandu. Because Maia Sandu has elections coming up, Romania will help the Republic of Moldova, because there are Romanians in the Republic of Moldova, not anything else. There are no more Moldovans, there is no more Moldovan language, there is the Romanian language and there are Romanians (…) It is difficult for Mr. dictator Putin to expand the front at this moment. (…) It is a hybrid war, it is normal to have these threats, but there is also a military logic, which shows that, if in Ukraine there is an armed war, in the Republic of Moldova there is a hybrid war,” replied prime minister Marcel Ciolacu.
