Mandatory private pension funds had assets worth 143.3 billion RON, at the end of June 2024, up 30.2% compared to the level recorded on the same date in 2023, according to the statistics of the Financial Supervisory Authority (ASF).
„The investments of privately managed pension funds were made in a percentage of 94.2% in Romanian assets, most of them being denominated in lei. A large part of the Romanian instruments are represented by government securities or shares listed on the BVB,” it is mentioned in the report.
According to the quoted source, the contributions collected in June 2024 were worth 1.57 billion RON, while the average contribution was 383 RON.
At the end of June, government bonds had the largest share in assets, of 92.185 billion RON, respectively 64.3%. In second place were shares, with 36.266 billion RON (25.3%), and in third place were corporate bonds, with 6.144 billion RON (4.3% of total assets).
According to the ASF, mandatory private pension funds had 8,217,750 participants in June 2024.
The following pension funds are active within Pillar II: Metropolitan Life, Aripi, AZT Viitorul tau, BCR, BRD, NN and Vital.
