Mandatory private pension funds had assets worth RON 139.4 billion at the end of May 2024, up 29.7% compared to the same date in 2023, according to statistics of the Financial Supervisory Authority (ASF).
„Investments by privately managed pension funds were 93.6% in Romanian assets, most of which were denominated in lei. A large part of the Romanian instruments are represented by government securities or shares listed on the BVB,” the report states.
According to the source, the contributions collected in May 2024 amounted to RON 1.58 billion, while the average contribution was RON 384.
At the end of May, government securities accounted for the largest share of the assets, amounting to RON 90.734 billion, or 65.1%. In second place were equities, with RON 35.038 billion (25.1%), and in third place were corporate bonds, with RON 6.304 billion (4.5% of total assets).
According to ASF, mandatory private pension funds had 8,209,685 participants in May 2024.
The following pension funds are active in Pillar II: Metropolitan Life, Aripi, AZT Viitorul tau, BCR, BRD, NN and Vital.
